The Nutrition Services department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well being and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.
Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.
As a partner in the education process of children, it is the mission of Child Nutrition Services (CNS) to provide nutritious, economical, appealing meals to all children while complying with local, state and national regulations.
The Muskogee Public Schools (MPS), Child Nutrition Services Department operates under signed agreements with the Oklahoma State Department of Education and the Department of Human Services. the National School Lunch, National School Breakfast Program and Summer Food Service Programs are administered by the United States Department of Agriculture.
The Child Nutrition Services Department of the Muskogee Public School District serves approximately 2,800 breakfast meals and approximately 4,800 lunches each school day. A total of 1,120,647 nutritious breakfast and lunch meals were served to children in the Muskogee School District last year.
Child Nutrition Services Department employs 74 individuals working approximately 600 hours. Our employees are dedicated to a partnership supporting the educational and performance objectives of the district. Through CNS, over $3.2 million dollars get funneled into the economy by way of salaries, food, services and equipment purchases.
